Oss is a uniquely liveable city, where old neighbourhoods are being rejuvenated and restored and urban renewal has turned old industrial complexes into modern housing developments. By 2015, 4,000 new housing units will be built in Oss.
Education
Oss offers education and training for adults, cultural activities, youth and adolescent employment programmes, health services, community projects, sports and recreation, in addition to 'regular' education in all forms from pre-school through professional level training.
Sports & recreation
In the area of sports and recreation, Oss offers a wealth of amenities, including a public swimming pool, an artificial athletics track, playing fields with artificial turf and a greyhound track, which can be used as a natural ice-skating track during winter. Indoor sports and recreation are also available at over 20 gymnasiums and courts, including two tennis courts. Oss' location on the Maas offers unlimited opportunities for water sports. And Oss even has a professional football team – Top-Oss.
Culture
Oss is not lacking for culture. The jewel in the crown of Oss' art and cultural scene is the Jan Cunen Museum. The museum's art collection includes works from painters from the Romantic period, such as Koekkoek, Bosboom and Haagse, and the Amsterdam School masters, such as Maris, Israels and Breitner. The museum also has a collection of contemporary art, with the works of Visch, Gerritsen, Dieleman, Benner and Roothaan. In the extensive graphics
collection are lithographs, etchings and screen-prints by Corneille, Lucebert, Appel, Verwey, Bonnies and Van der Linden, to name a few. Several other galleries contribute significantly to Oss' rich artistic assets.

Events
Oss is a city with a very broad social life. Every year dozens of large public events variety of interests. The events calendar and entertainment schedule can be found on the website www.uitinoss.nl.
Nature
In building a strong and thriving industrial city, Oss has not neglected its natural attributes. The Maashorst (Maas eyrie) is a 4,000-hectare nature park with forests, heaths, sand dunes, beach-lakes, hiking-, biking- and horse-riding trails, campgrounds and riding schools. On the west side of Oss is the Geffense Bosjes nature preserve, with a beautiful beach-lake. Osser Lake, an old Maas tributary, has a peaceful bird sanctuary.
