Oss in the 21st Century

On 1 January 1994 the Dutch Parliament ordered the formation of an entirely new Oss municipality out of the former towns of Oss, Megen, Berghem, Haren and Macharen. The new municipality covers almost 6,000 hectares with a population of 67,000, according to 2001 figures. Nearly 125 different nationalities are represented. Since January 2003 the city of Ravenstein, along with its 11 ‘church villages’ – Dennenburg, Demen, Deursen, Dieden, Herpen, Huisseling, Keent, Koolwijk, Neerlangel, Neerloon and Overlangel – is part of the Oss municipality. The population counts over 76,000 and total surface area is 10,442 hectares.
